This is the second installment of documenting my time c at the University of Dayton. To read about my first installment, see my previous blog post here.

Where did the summer go? Honestly, this summer fly by and I con't believe I've completed another two classes!
I enrolled in…
COM 511- Theories of Persuasion
In this class we examined the major approaches to the study of persuasion based on contemporary social influence theory.
I enjoyed… this class more than I thought I would. Through the textbook that we used and the different theories we studied, learning how to break down different persuasion theories was somewhat of an eye-opening moment.
Skills I developed… logic, reasoning, and critical thinking
Persuasion has never been a topic that I have ever thought much about. I understood the idea and that's about as much as I never wanted to know. This class broke down different theories into concepts, ideas, and steps that were understandable but interesting to learn about. I was able to see these theories in real world use. This was my "light bulb moment", we are surrounded in a world full of persuasion. We (as a population) just doesn't even realize it.
MBA 639- Social Media Strategy and Metrics
In this class, we examined digital marketing in the context of business strategy in domestic and global marketplaces.
I enjoyed… the real time examples and hands-on learning this class gave. I was able to be creative in my ideas and proposals, while also learning from other students. This class is part of my interdisciplinary section of my degree. I thought it was a great starting class and solidified my desire to continue into the business discipline.

My major project… Throughout the semester we completed a variety of different social media certifications. This included; Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Google, Facebook, and Snapchat. Alongside the certificates, we worked through a social media simulation. We were able to launch paid social ad campaigns. This included writing content, managing thousands of dollars in weekly content and promotion, analyzing data results, social media targeting, and utilizing influencer strategies.
Skills I developed… a variety of marketing certifications, data analytics, and social media strategy.
This class really packed a punch. The lectures included a variety of real time examples. This was fun to see how class topics applied to current and overall popular marketing campaigns. Through all of the certifications and online social media simulation, there was plenty on hands-on experience.
